English 7

Last Week in November

In our only lesson last week we worked on reporting verbs (pages 76, 77, 140 and 141) and did some communicative activities. As homework for Monday, here you have the handout given out in class. We worked in pairs and most of you finished the activity. In any case, finish it if you didn't have time in class or revise it and re-write the sentences! We'll check it together in class on Monday.

November 17th-19th

This past week we finished File 5B and started working on File 5C. We talked about the news in general and we read the five texts on pages 76 and 77. We also remembered how to make reported speech sentences. If you don't really remember how to do it, please work on page 50 on your Workbook or else you can check the following links: exercise 1, exercise 2, exercise 3 and exercise 4. After remembering that we worked on reporting verbs, such as regret, apologize, convince, refuse, etc. (page 140). As homework for Wednesday 27th, please finish exercise b on page 141 (section 5C).

November 10th-12th

Last week we worked on pages 72 to 75 and 140-141. We talked about our sleeping habits and about having healthy sleeping hours, which not all of us actually have... We did some talking and listening exercises and we checked the due homework. Please revise the use of the new-learnt structures used to + infinitive, to be/get used to + gerund. You can do some extra pratice by clicking on these links: exercise 1, exercise 2, exercise 3, exercise 4, exercise 5, exercise 6 and exercise 7 (gerunds' revision).

As homework for next week, please revise the new-acquired vocabulary (page 74 mainly) and the above-mentioned structures. That's all!

First Week in November

This past week we've revised the use of gerunds and infinitives by listening to songs. Some of the recommended links were: Lyricstraining, Learn English with the Beatles or Azlyrics
Now that we are done talking about music and how it makes us feel, I think you can find the following video quite interesting, enjoy!

On Wednesday last week we also learnt how to use the following structures:
  • We used to go to the gym, but we don't go anymore.
  • I usually go to the cinema every Sunday.
  • I'm used to getting up early every day, so that's not a problem for me.
  • She's getting used to working late these days, so she feels really tired by the end of the week.
If you still have any questions regarding these structures, please read the corresponding section on page 140. As homework for Monday: page 141, exercise b in part 5B and try to do the exercises on this handout I gave out in class. If you find them way too difficult, don't worry, we'll go through them in class.

Last Week in October

These first days we've been introducing ourselves and getting to know each other. We've also practiced the use of gerunds (-ing forms) and infinitives (with and without to) doing various activities and exercises. Here you can find the handout we did in class. I you cannot access it, please tell me about it in class next week.

Have a lovely weekend! :-)
